This is my story about how I was told I would never walk again and proved all those doctors and odds wrong. It was October 23, 2022 it was a cool windy Sunday fall day and my siblings and I wanted to carve our Halloween pumpkins. We start setting up the newspaper on the deck table and I go to the front to grab my pumpkin. A few weeks back when we got the pumpkins I made sure to pick out the best one for my idea, it was fat, round, and big, the perfect one for this year. Every year I make a different pumpkin design. Last year my pumpkin had big teeth and was eating a small pumpkin that was in its mouth. This year I decided to try to cut it out so I would wear it on my head! I cut and cleaned my pumpkin out and started to make a face, then I put it on my head and wore it. Then I had to leave for my soccer game and I played really well I think and dove and stopped many goals. When the game was over we went straight to my mom's side of the family for the Halloween party. We had a campfire in their backyard, ate, and played in the back. They had a swing set in their backyard that was next to a huge leaf pile. I decided to try something I always wanted to do, a backward flip off a swing. My uncle was doing it before so I watched him to try to learn what to do. I remember I was sitting by the fire with my aunts and uncles when my dad asked if I could grab him a beer. Instead, I ran over to the swings and started pumping my legs to get more speed. I was up at least 10 feet in the air trying to convince my mind to be confident. I remember the nervous thoughts I had and how I kept never feeling ready, it’s like if you are about to bungee jump and are too scared to do so. I was counting down in my head from three. I had to repeat counting because I was never ready. Then I leaned back so my head was upside down as my legs were above me in the air. I let go of the sides of the swing and flew down.Â
